About Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge (GPTC)

Purpose

"To introduce hope and healing to individuals with life-controlling problems through a personal, loving relationship with Jesus Christ so they may live successfully in society." Our goal is to provide an answer to the addicted young men of our community and take the faith-based proven treatment to those who are addicted to drugs and alcohol and bring them hope for a better tomorrow. We focus on helping them become whole persons: mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.

History

Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge was established in 1975 and certified by Teen Challenge International, USA. Teen Challenge was founded by David Wilkerson in 1958. Since then, thousands of young people have conquered life-controlling problems in over 1, 000 Teen Challenge Centers throughout the world. Approach

GPTC seeks to provide a Biblical, faith-based solution to the drug epidemic.  We are a residential discipleship program designed to help young men ages 18 to 45.  The men come from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances such as the streets, prison, courts, broken homes, etc.  Our program is divided into three phases:  Orientation, Transformation and Graduation.  Graduation is determined by an evaluation process that considers grades, behavior, growth, motivation, sincerity, cooperation and personal effort.

Leadership

Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge is under the leadership of the Board of Directors and the Executive Director, Dr. Bob Harman. The Center’s staff is under the leadership of the Executive Director.

Partnerships

Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge partners with many local ministries:  Second Harvest Food Bank, Urban Ministry Food Bank, Hannah’s Haven and many churches, businesses and civic clubs in our local area.  Click on any of these ministries to access thier website.

Funding
